What to Give Him? ***Give Away Alert***Read this post for details.

He's the most special man in my life. He is a man of great character. He works very hard for me. He takes good care of me. He serves me. He encourages me. He prays for me. He forgives me. He tells me I'm beautiful. He holds my hand. He grows scruff on the weekends because I like it on his face. He talks to me. He texts me. He supports me. He puts up with me. He gave me beautiful babies....4 of them! He gave me a precious poodle. He is a dynamic father. He is dedicated. He is fun. He is hot...way sexy he is. He looks perfect in old blue jeans, a t-shirt, and bare feet. He loves God. He loves his family. He loves me. He married me almost 18 years ago.....

Yes, this wonderful man is my husband, Jeff. Sunday, February 10th is our 18th wedding anniversary. We are going out to celebrate. He's taking me to Sullivans (I love steak:) for dinner and live music (I love that too!). Then we'll come home, tell the kids to leave us alone or else, and have a little more fun;) (oh, don't act all shocked....you know you do it too!) There's only one problem....I haven't gotten him a gift yet and I don't know what to get him!!!! Help me!

This anniversary is very special to me. You see, last year was one of the toughest our marriage has had. We never fell out of love, but it was definitely tested. Our communication was at an all time low. We had extreme financial hardships. We were both in a pit and for the first time, it seemed our marriage was in trouble. In fact I just checked out and ignored my husband. It was one of the darkest times in my life ever. Thank the good Lord above He made this marriage to last. Jeff and I entered marriage counseling in the Summer of 2007. It's the best thing we have done for our marriage and ourselves. We reconnected, prayed for restoration, and we redefined our relationship. Neither of us ever wanted a divorce. We just couldn't figure out what had happened to the "us" we once knew. We were not going to give up. We worked hard and it was worth it.

Well, "we" are back and are stronger and more in love than ever! I am so appreciative of my sweet hubby and I want to show him that. That's why his gift is so important to me. He is so important to me. I love him so much.

Any and all suggestions for what to give to my Mr. Incredible would be so appreciated! In fact, if I select a gift that you suggest by posting to this blog, I'll send you a signed copy of my friend, Melanie Chitwood's book, What A Husband Needs From His Wife. It is a must have for every wife! Thanks friends! Hurry, this offer will expire on Saturday, February 9th!

Much Love,

Melissa

Melsa,

You've already gotten him the Duran Duran hat, so I think anything is going to pale in comparison this year.

Have you saved anything from a special time together? A ticket stub from a concert,or some other memorobilia? Frame it with a sweet note and the month and year of your anniversary on it, so you can look back and remember what a great time you had.

Congrats on your eighteen years. That rocks!

Hi Melsa, Many of us can relate to what you guys went through and I am so happy to hear that you all had the strength to continue your journey and find that special love again that you were missing! Having said that, marriage is a journey (no I am not going to suggest a Journey CD, he he he!), but what about a nice leather journal that he could use to write down and reflect on all the blessings in his life? You could even have the cover engraved with a special saying or verse with his name on it. One time I commissioned a friend to make John a very special humidor and I had it engraved with his favorite saying which is the way he lives his life "Every day is a holiday and every meal is a banquet". My guess is that you all have some special saying or verse that is special to you. Tell Jeffro hello from Jocko. Miss you guys!

I suggest a matching Cheerleader outfit for him. You guys could shake those poms-poms together...if you know what I mean! Just a thought :o)

I have found out very recently that everyone from age 5 to 95 needs a Wii!!! It is a fun time by yourself or for the entire family...That is it...competition over...send me my book!!!

How about getting him (and you) a couples massage at home after you have a romantic dinner catered by a personal chef...I know one...a whole new meaning to "home alone" minus the kids! Suz

Ok Melissa! One of my favorite books of all time and I think EVERY couple should have one is called 1001 Ways to be Romantic. It gives the best ideas and so obscure crazy things too! My husband bought/ Named a star after me (that's in there). We now have one for each member of the family! So we will always be together in the heavens!
You might want to get hime a card for each day of the week or every other day. If your husband likes wine you can buy a vintage wine from the year of his birth or the year of your marriage. Pleace full page ad in the local paper on your anniversary. Rent a luxury vehicle for him for the day (Porsche etc). Get him a trophy for being the best husband, lover in the world!!
Those are just few ideas out of this book. I hope that helps!

Melissa, what a precious gift you already have in each other. What a blessing from God to be married for 18 years. I have only been married for 16 months and i am learning the importance of knowing my husbands love language and meeting his needs based on that love language. So I would encourage you do something for him that falls in line with his love language and then go to town with it. :)
Thank you for being so open and humble. You have really been an inspiration and encouragement to me.
Happy Anniversary!

WELL, all of these suggestions are awesome, and I will take some of the suggestions for my marriage... but, I say just have long, wild, romantic, and awesome sex because that is what he wants. Ask Jeff to judge the contest and I will win hands down! Not that I am competative or anything but hey you asked! Love U, D

Happy Anniversary! Good to know you kept it together. We all check-out sometimes.
My husband and I love the Ballantyne Resort. We typically have dinner together, then enjoy a couples massage. If you can swing it, get the couples spa/overnight package and let the fun begin! Have fun!! Lisa-Leigh

Hi Girl. Thanks for BEING REAL! I consulted my hubby, and he wasn't sure if it was "okay" to post his suggestions :) Then I read some others, and figured it was safe.

Obviously there's no magical gift - but I think I NOW know what to give my hubby for Valentines! :)

From the King of my castle:
Sex Tickets: ____night(s) a week, or 5 passes for _______. Ideas include: I will be readily available emotionaly and physically for the night of your dreams, etc. You can make them up on the computer, include a photo of yourself, etc.

My girlie reccomendation:
Print your beautiful blog and frame it. Write a personal note on it as well, and sign it with a big lipstick-kiss.

Love ya,
darci
